Idiot Nation

2008.05.26

Over the last seven years it's often been too easy to classify anyone and everyone on the right as an idiot, while assuming that anyone who saw Bush and Company for what they are to at least have a modicum of intelligence. But judging by the primaries, maybe we've been overestimating even these people. The Bush approval rating continues to hover around 30%, so that's the baseline number for people who are for all practical purposes brain dead. But we're seeing polls saying that somewhere around 50% of the population would actually vote for McCain. Wow. Eight of the worst years this country has ever seen -- and half the people want more of the same? What, pray tell, is the difference between Bush and McCain? If anything, McCain could actually turn out to be worse than Bush! Granted he's certainly a lot smarter than Bush, and is also far superior to Bush-Cheney when it comes to morals and ethics. But the fact remains that McCain is going to simply continue the same failed policies of Bush-Cheney. Both at home and abroad. There's an old adage defining insanity as doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Well, that fits to a tee McCain and anyone who would even consider voting for him. He's batshit crazy, period. Anyone voting for him is a moron by definition. So we're back to 50% of the country being idiots.

But if you're looking for something positive on the Democratic side, you're in for a disappointment. There's absolutely no doubt that either Obama or Clinton would be a 1000 times improvement over Bush, and a 1000 times better than McCain. So who cares which one of them gets elected? Sure, you can have your preference, that's fine. But in the end, either one will do quite well. Heck, let them share the White House -- Barack can be in charge for six months, then let Hillary run things for six months. Compared to what we have now, it would be like heaven. So what's all this Clinton bashing and Obama bashing about? More idiocy, that's what it is. So Hillary continues the campaign against all odds -- who friggin' cares? It's her right, and there's no down side to it. For God's sake, let her be. But alas, there are a lot of people who are now attacking her with the same fervor that they have attacked BushCo. And that is indeed scary. Could there be a huge element of idiots also in the Democratic party? Hopefully this is all political bluster, and all the Hillary and Barack supporters will come together in the Fall and put a competent person back in the White House.

Or maybe not? Could it be that even a huge chunk of so-called Democrats are just as stupid as everyone who calls themselves a Republican? Idiot Nation, indeed.
