Why Does The Republican Party Hate America?

2008.12.12

OK, let me see if I have this right. We have no problem at all handing over $700 billion to bail out a bunch of Wall Street bankers -- very little discussion of the pros and cons, no strings attached, not much in the way of oversight. Here it is, do with it as you please. Party on, keep paying those huge salaries and bonuses. Business as usual. But when it comes to help for the auto industry -- a package that amounts to a meager TWO PERCENT of what Wall Street got, a package that would help millions of middle-class Americans keep their jobs -- the Republican party says no???? Are you friggin' kidding me? The entire banking industry in this country has become a joke. This is an industry that manufactures NOTHING -- it's become one huge Ponzi scheme. The banking industry should serve one and only one function -- acting as an intermediary between people with more money than they currently need and people who don't have enough money at the moment and thus need to borrow. That's it, that's all they should be doing. They should be no more than a minor player in the overall economy. The banking industry doesn't need to be bailed out -- it needs to be blown up totally and re-built from scratch.

Now this isn't to say that the American automotive industry isn't without their problems. Yeah, there's lots that needs fixing there. But compared to the banking industry -- well, you can't even compare the two. What it comes down to in the final analysis though is this -- are you going to help rich fat cats who contribute very little to society and pull down salaries well in to six figures, or are you going to help millions of middle class Americans who bust their butts 40+ hours a week actually contributing something to the economy for $30/hour or a lot less? Sure seems like a no-brainer to me. But somehow the Republican Party can't figure it out.

Idiot nation. This is full-blown class warfare, and the majority of Americans are sleeping through it.
